The Battle To Becoming Unstuck Begins In The Mind
Our minds are constantly under attack. We are always fighting the darts of the enemy that come in the form of thoughts—questions and statements like:
Am I good enough? Can the Lord really use me after everything that has happened in my life? This situation looks impossible—I don’t think the Lord will be able to do anything about it.
These are all lies the enemy uses to keep us stuck.
The enemy plants doubt, fear, and insecurity to bring us to a place of captivity, keeping our lives idle and preventing us from doing and achieving all that God has for us.
That’s why we must always remain prayerful and vigilant. By transforming our minds and aligning them with the Word of God, we can put an end to the enemy’s mind games and walk in victory through Christ Jesus.
Paralyzed by the Thoughts That Keep Us Captive
As you may know from my previous blogs, I was stuck in an idle life with absolutely nothing going on for me for a really long time. I was consumed by thoughts of hopelessness, believing that I would never come out of that situation. I couldn’t see a way out, and I even started to think that maybe this was just God’s will for my life.
I was afraid of putting myself out there and trying new things, convinced that I would fail as usual—because all I had ever known was failure. I thought I had ruined every opportunity given to me, and that idleness was simply my portion in life.
I gave up. I decided there was nothing left for me to do but wait for the rapture.
(I talked about this in my blog, “Misinterpreting Scriptures Can Keep Us Stuck.” )
These powerful thoughts shaped my reality, allowing the enemy’s fiery darts to keep me bound. And for a long time, he was succeeding. I was paralyzed by fear, hopelessness, and defeat. The worst part? The consequences of believing his lies were manifesting in my life—I was stuck, fruitless, and not living in victory or walking in my God-ordained calling.
But thank God, none of it was true.
I was able to come out of that mindset once I began to understand God’s Word. The Bible says that we must renew our minds to the truth of God’s Word. Once I received that revelation, I started seeking God’s perspective on my life.
Through Scripture, I experienced a mind-blowing transformation—one that took me from being bound in fear and defeat to walking in my God-ordained destiny and purpose.
Paying Too Much Attention to the Lies
The enemy wants us to live in constant defeat, fear, and discouragement. He uses these tactics to plant doubt in our hearts and keep us from walking in the fullness of God’s plans for our lives.
If we pay attention to his lies—constantly thinking about them, meditating on them—we will eventually believe them. And once we believe them, they become our reality.
That’s why it is crucial to pay close attention to our thoughts—they can either build us up or tear us down.
Have you ever been consumed by thoughts of hopelessness, discouragement, or defeat?
The Bible gives us the key to overcoming these negative thoughts:
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
—2 Corinthians 10:4-5
The cure to negative thoughts? Bring them captive under the obedience of Christ.
Bringing Our Thoughts Captive to the Obedience of Christ
Whenever you are bombarded by the enemy’s lies, root yourself in the Word of God.
You transform your mind to the mind of Christ by finding scriptures that speak to your situation, meditating on them, and declaring them over your life.
Here’s an example:
I struggled with feeling like a failure. I started believing that I was never going to be successful or come out of that place of being stuck because of my past failures.
To overcome this mindset, I searched for a scripture that debunked that lie and brought it captive to the obedience of Christ.
I found Deuteronomy 28:13:
“The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”
I began declaring this scripture over my life:
"I am the head and not the tail. I am always meant to be at the top and never at the bottom."
From Defeat to Victory
The more I meditated on that scripture and declared it over my life, the lie that I was a failure and that success was not meant for me began to disappear.
My mind was being renewed with God’s Word and His desires for my life.
Every time the thought of failure entered my mind, I repeated this scripture to silence the enemy. It gave me hope and strength for the future God had planned for me.
Romans 12:2 says:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
As we align our minds to the Word and will of God for our lives, we find freedom from the lies that have kept us stuck for too long.
Jesus wants us to live in freedom! The Bible is our life manual—it tells us exactly what God wants for us.
As we make the Word of God our own, it will transform our lives.
We will move from feeling stuck to living in victory. Our minds will shift from a defeat mentality—filled with fear, doubt, shame, and insecurity—to a victory mentality that empowers us to walk in God’s perfect will and purpose for our lives.
Final Encouragement
I hope this blog blessed and encouraged you.
If you’re battling thoughts that keep you stuck, remember: you are not alone. I’ve been there too, but I want you to know—there is hope!
As you meditate on Scripture and align your thoughts with God’s truth, your mind will be renewed. You will no longer live in defeat, but instead walk boldly into God’s perfect will and purpose for your life.
Much love,
Jackie
